…Advocates Improved Compliance in 2026

Apapa Port stepped into the new year with a message of gratitude and hope from Chief Emeka Chukwumalu, Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Apapa Chapter.

In his New Year address, Chukwumalu extended warm wishes to maritime stakeholders including customs brokers, freight forwarders, officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, personnel of other government agencies, and members of the maritime press, thanking them for their cooperation and professionalism throughout 2025.

This is even as he called for improved trade compliance and a more robust partnership in the New Year, explaining that a higher sense of self evaluation in respect of port trade and cargo clearance would amount to increased overall gain for both port traders and the federal government.

The statement signed by Chukwumalu himself reads: “As we bid farewell to 2025 and step into the promising horizon of 2026, on behalf of my executive, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all maritime stakeholders, especially Customs brokers, freight forwarders, officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, personnel of other government agencies at Apapa Port, and members of the maritime press.

“We give thanks to the Almighty for guiding us through the challenges of the past year. Your unwavering cooperation, collaboration, and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in our collective success. I deeply appreciate the strong professional relationships we’ve built and sustained throughout 2025.”

Looking ahead, the Chairman urged licensed Customs agents and cargo clearance professionals to remain compliant and uphold the highest standards of integrity. This is even as he also called on the Nigeria Customs Service, shipping companies, terminal operators, and other agencies to foster transparency and eliminate bottlenecks, ensuring a smoother port environment in 2026.

“As we embrace the new year, I encourage all licensed Customs agents and those involved in cargo clearance to remain compliant and uphold the highest standards of professionalism. Let us continue to play by the rules to ensure seamless and efficient cargo processing.

“I also call on the Nigeria Customs Service, shipping companies, terminal operators, and all other agencies operating within Apapa Port to maintain diligence and foster a more streamlined, transparent, and bottleneck-free port environment.”

With optimism, Chukwumalu prayed for abundant opportunities, good health, and divine protection for all stakeholders and their families, wishing them a prosperous and peaceful year ahead.

His message which set the tone for 2026 based on unity, diligence, and professionalism as the guiding lights for Apapa Port’s continued success, adds:

“May 2026 bring us abundant opportunities, good health, and divine protection. Here is ishing you and your families a prosperous, peaceful, and fulfilling New Year”, he said.
