President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the newly constructed Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’ office complex of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Iperu, Ogun State, marking a significant milestone in the Service’s expansion and modernization drive.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi emphasized that the relocation of the FOU Zone A office from Ikeja, Lagos, was necessitated by increasing operational demands and the need to improve officers’ welfare.
“We’ve just commissioned the Federal Operations Unit; they will be moving here as soon as possible. It’s already been furnished, with accessories installed to ensure proper functioning. A modern armoury has been provided, and the warehouse opposite this facility will support operations at the nearby aviation village,” Adeniyi stated.
The CGC commended Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for his partnership in the project and paid tribute to his predecessor, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd), for initiating the development. He noted that the project, initially estimated at ₦73 billion, may undergo cost review due to evolving economic realities.
Highlighting the Service’s expansion efforts, Adeniyi disclosed that Customs officers have already commenced operations at the newly commissioned cargo airport in Ogun State.
