Daniyan Resumes At PTML, Pledge Trade Facilitation, Optimal Revenue Collection

Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan recently appointed Customs Area Controller of Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command resumed duty last week amid applause from stakeholders who gathered to witness the handing over ceremony.

Comptroller Daniyan’s posting which followed the recent elevation of his predecessor, ACG Saidu Abba Yusuf to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) promised to fully implement the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act (NCSA) 2023 by ensuring maximum revenue collection and enhanced trade facilitation.

Addressing officers and stakeholders during the ceremony, Daniyan said the command will step  up strategies to prevent revenue leakages in the drive to achieve government economic goals, even as he further pledged to  leverage on his long standing experience and robust interaction gained at the PTML Command over the years to achieve set goals.

The new PTML Command boss who served previously in the Command as the Deputy Comptroller (DC) in charge of Revenue remarked that trade facilitation is as key and strategic to the Service’s overall function as revenue collection.

He charged stakeholders to be compliant by making sincere declarations and paying their duties on time to build a track record of integrity to make it easy for them to enjoy free flow of  trade and other opportunities such as innovative windows the present administration has built into the service’s operation.

In line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Comptroller Daniyan promised to build on the existing customs community relations through regular stakeholder engagements and promote other programmes like the Time Release Study (TRS).

In addition, the PTML Customs new helmsman informed that the command will work to achieve migration of compliant stakeholders to the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status and to also guide them on how to benefit from the Advanced Ruling scheme already put in place by the CGC.

Speaking earlier, ACG Yusuf while thanking the CGC for the raising the NCS  leadership bar described his successor as a competent officer that will take the command higher in all ramifications.

ACG Yusuf solicited increased cooperation of all the importers, licensed customs agents, freight forwarders and the management of Grimaldi for the new CAC.

A seasoned customs officer, Daniyan has worked in various commands, departments and unit of the NCS and have attended courses and served as an instructor/lecturer in the service training institution.

He worked in Sokoto, Kebbi, Apapa, Borno/Yobe and has served in the Tariff and Trade Department of the NCS Headquarters. He also served on the valuation seat of the Murtala Mohammed Airport Command (MMAC); Port Harcourt Area ll Command, Once and the Federal Operations Unit(FOU) , Zone B as DC Revenue.

Further posting took him to FOU Zone A as DC Revenue before he was deployed to PTML in the same capacity from where he was moved to Tin Can Island Port(TCIP) Command.

From TCIP, Daniyan was deployed to the Post Clearance Audit Seat MMAC where he was promoted to the rank of Comptroller of Customs (CC) and subsequently appointed Controller ICT Zone A headquarters; Controller Modernisation in Abuja before his recent deployment as Controller PTML Command.

The PTML Command Public Relations Officer, CSC Yakubu Muhammad in a release said Daniyan is an alumnus of Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University) Ekpoma, Edo State, where he bagged a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. He holds a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and another Masters in Facilities Management from the University of Lagos, Akoka.

He has attended courses on valuation, classification, price search, document preparation and has participated in Operation Haske Biu at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji Kaduna State.

Cerebral and articulate, Comptroller Daniyan served as instructor in 2009,2011 and 2012, respectively at the Customs Training College. He is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (MNIA) and is married with children.

His hobbies includes playing football, chess and golf.
