Ebony Herald International Magazine Celebrates 15 Years of Excellence, Announces Expanded Vision

Ebony Herald International Magazine, has marked 15 years of providing news and information for Nigerians in the diaspora, particularly in Western Europe, while also serving as a link to developments in Nigeria.
Alhaji Lai Gidado, publisher of the Magazine, said it was founded in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, in 2009, with the aim of connecting Nigerians abroad with their homeland by covering a wide range of topics such as events, fashion, sports, and interviews.
He explained that the inaugural issue featured Nigerians in London and Ireland, with highlights of birthdays, naming ceremonies, and interviews with notable personalities, including Miss K, Tinu Itswel Odunuga, and Theodora Ibekwe from the UK, among others.
“In Nigeria, the magazine gained recognition for its coverage of the political situation surrounding the push for then-Vice President Goodluck Jonathan to be sworn in as Acting President. It also reviewed the upcoming general elections and profiled several aspirants.
“Since then, Ebony Herald has expanded its reach, launching its first Nigerian edition in 2011, ahead of the general elections. In 2010, it ventured into online reportage, which has faced challenges but continues to grow steadily.
The publisher, while reflecting on the magazine’s journey, expressed gratitude to key contributors and supporters who played crucial roles in the early years of the publication.
Notable mentions include; Mr. Ajibade Adewumi, Yinka Dixon Oludaiye, Bankole Afe, and others. In Nigeria, individuals such as Samson Adigun, Chief Temitayo Adewole, and Femi Falana were acknowledged for their professional contributions.
Meanwhile, in a leadership transition, the founder announced that he was stepping down from several critical roles within the organisation, appointing Mrs. Shalom Oludele as the new CEO and Editor-in-Chief.
