Matawalle Briefs President Tinubu On Major Military Gains in North-West Operations

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, MON, has briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the significant progress achieved by the Nigerian Military in combating insecurity in Sokoto State and the wider North-West region.

During the meeting, Dr. Matawalle lauded the dedication and professionalism of the Nigerian Armed Forces, emphasizing their pivotal role in safeguarding the nation. “They will continue to play a critical role in ensuring the security of our country,” the Minister noted. He praised President Tinubu’s administration for its unwavering commitment to providing the military with the necessary resources to maintain operational efficiency in addressing security threats in the region.

Dr. Matawalle’s operational tour of Sokoto State aimed to restore public confidence in the Federal Government’s efforts to restore peace and security. His visit, alongside the Chief of Defence Staff and other military leaders, led to the elimination of key bandit leaders, including Halilu Buzu Sububu, signaling the government’s determination to eradicate banditry and terrorism.

The Minister urged residents of Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces to ensure the success of ongoing operations.

President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the briefing, commending the Minister and troops for their renewed efforts to eradicate insecurity in the North-West and across Nigeria.
