In a resounding affirmation of digital transformation and strategic leadership, the Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded an unprecedented single-day revenue of ₦16.4 billion.

This achievement did not only set a new benchmark but also reflects the transformative impact of Comptroller Frank Onyeka since assuming office.

A statement released by the Command Public Relations Officer, Oscar Ivara on Friday, revealed that the command on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, collected ₦16,411,402,227.27 in revenue, a feat made possible through the deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly known as B’Odogwu.

Introduced in November 2024, the digital platform has spared no effort in turning the tide at revolutionizing port operations by integrating payment systems, cargo clearance, valuation, and monitoring into one seamless interface.

Comptroller Onyeka described the achievement as “a clear win for technological efficiency and collaboration,” underscoring the Command’s commitment to modernization and stakeholder engagement.

Since assuming the helm of affairs at Tin Can Island, Comptroller Onyeka has distinguished himself as a reform-minded leader with a laser focus on transparency, efficiency, and economic impact. Thus his tenure has been marked by digital transformation as he got the command to key into B’Odogwu, which has eliminated bottlenecks and enabled real-time cargo processing.

Since coming onboard, Onyeka his appetite at building bridges with terminal operators, shipping companies, regulatory agencies, and Customs agents to foster a business-friendly ecosystem has been very encouraging; which leadership style has promoted revenue optimization as clearly evident.

An uncommon valuation officer, implementing systems that ensure accurate valuation and compliance has directly contributed to national development goals; considering the impact of improved revenue collection into the federation account, among others.

A strong believer and driver of the B’Odogwu  platform, this indigenous customs trade technology is perhaps, more than just a tech upgrade, it represents a paradigm shift.

By consolidating all Customs and port operations into a unified digital system, it has reduced administrative delays, improved access to payment and clearance platforms, enabled predictive and efficient cargo handling, and enhanced monitoring and compliance.

This has created a ripple effect across the port community, empowering stakeholders to operate with greater confidence and speed. Putting this encouraging developments in perspective, Onyeka’s leadership is certainly not just about numbers but about impact. The Command’s performance contributes directly to Nigeria’s fiscal health, trade facilitation, and global competitiveness. His strategic focus aligns with the directive of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and the broader national goals for economic diversification and infrastructure modernization.

With this historic revenue milestone, the Tin Can Island Port Command under Onyeka has set a new standard for what is possible when innovation meets dedication.

As the Command continues to evolve, stakeholders and citizens alike can expect even greater strides in efficiency, transparency, and national service; short of any unforeseen circumstances.
