ANLCA Crisis: Factions Adopt CCC Peace Initiative, To Hold NECOM Election Before Aug Ending

Factions of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agent (ANLCA) yesterday agreed to work with a resolution template organized by the Customs Consultative Committee (CCC), to return the association to the path of peace, even as the parley further consented to holding the National Executive Committee (NECOM) election before end of August, 2023.

Top on the resolution is the extension of the lifespan of the embattled NECOM by two weeks, after which it ceases to exist and the Board of Trustees (BoT) takes over the administration of ANLCA and ensure that it works with the already constituted Association Electoral Committee (ASECO) to conduct election within two weeks.

While the Peace Accord Committee got the warring factions to accept the extension of the Dr. Kayode Farinto led NECOM to continue in office for two weeks and handover to the  CRFFN 8-man BoT, with Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha as Chairman; it was further agreed that every participants at the forthcoming election, whether as contestants or umpires (BoT and ASECO) must be seen to have a valid practising license to participate.

A statement by the CCC, signed by the Peace Accord Secretary, Dr Eugene Nweke Rff obtained by our reporter highlighting the peace accord reads:

*HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ANLCA LEADERSHIP TRANSCORP HILTON PEACE ACCORD 1907/23:*

✓ Adoption of Constitution 2013 as the official registered Constitution as a working document.

✓ Adoption of the present CRFFN BOT STRUCTURE – to be followed by a Board Election after the NECOM ELECTION.

✓ Adopted The Present Composition of AESCO with a caveat that Aseco members operating licenses validity will be verified with the NCS.

✓ The same treatment is applicable to the BOT.

✓ A Caveat reached to the effect that, licenses confirmed not to be valid, implies that such license owner will be dropped from being a member of the Aseco/BOT.

✓ The NECOM to remain in office in the next two weeks and hand over to the Board.

✓ The Board join efforts with the Aseco to supervise and conduct  a NECOM ELECTION in the subsequent two weeks.

✓ NECOM ELECTION holds before the end of August, 2023.

✓ Character/ Integrity and Capacity should be giving a priority in choosing leaders across board.

✓ Aspirants to conduct themselves with high sense of Integrity and maturity, and  educate their followers and supporters.

✓ A Press Release to be jointly signed by the BOT Chairman and Vice to enlighten members on the accord reached.

✓ The CCC to monitor the progress of accord Implementation and the electoral process.

✓ The CCC to host post Election Dinner in Lagos.

✓ Etc.

The 7-man CCC chaired by Hon. Hakeem Olarewaju has other members that include DCG Austen warikoro (Rtd), ACG Liman Bello (Rtd), Mrs. CFO Ezenwa, Comptroller Victor Dimka (Rtd), Alhaji Inua Mohammed and Dr. Eugene Nweke.

The Peace Accord Committee drawn from industry stakeholders with proven integrity includes  Barr. Hassan Bello, Chief Peter Okocha, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, Sir Ernest Elochukwu, Eze Amb. Damian Obianigwe, Chief Oye Ariyo among others.
