Apapa Command Fetes Stakeholders At End-of-Year Party
…As Adeniyi Reaffirms ‘Compliant Traders To Continue To Enjoy Timely Clearance’

The leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service has promised its complaint stakeholders swift clearance, among other benefits.
Speaking at the Apapa Area Command end-of-year party held in Apapa on Friday, 13 December 2024, Special Guest of Honour, Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, represented by Deputy Comptroller General of Customs (DCG) in charge of Tariff and Trade, Caroline Niagwan, emphasised the service’s commitment to providing necessary training, technical assistance and partnership to empower stakeholders with knowledge and tools aligned with global trade standards.
She said, “Our goal is to ensure that every stakeholder remains competitive, innovative, and aligns with global best practices. By working together, we can unlock even greater growth opportunities. You don’t only contribute to national revenue but also drive economic development, attract foreign investment, and enhance Nigeria’s position in international trade”, she added.
The DCG encouraged all stakeholders to sustain their continuous effort in building a trade ecosystem that rewards integrity, supports capacity development, and fosters mutual success.
Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, in his remark described the day’s event as “many things rolled up in one”, all of which is centred on engagement and partnership.
“There have been positive fallouts of our regular interface with our stakeholders. This is evident in our collection of N2.2 trillion revenue and still counting, zeroing in on the minority that attempts smuggling by curbing their activities with seizures. We are fostering inclusivity and this will continue in 2025”, Olomu stated.
The CAC further appreciated sister agencies for their consistent collaboration, making them an integral part of the Command’s success story in 2024. The high point of the event was the recognition of deserving stakeholders and officers whose contributions shaped the Command’s 2024 achievement.
