FOU Zone A Celebrates Promotions ….As Comptroller Shuaibu Urges Officers To Lead With Integrity

In a ceremony marked by pride, reflection, and renewed commitment, the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ikeja-Lagos, decorated 186 newly promoted officers in a vibrant event held on September 17, 2025.

Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu, who presided over the ceremony, welcomed officers, stakeholders, and guests with warmth and gratitude, describing the occasion as a historic milestone for the unit.

Shuaibu in a statement signed by the Unit Public Relations Officer, CSC Hussaina Abdullahi, emphasized that the promotions were not merely changes in rank but a recognition of loyalty, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to service.

“The promotions being celebrated here today are not just titles conferred; they are a reflection of your commitment to excellence, your patriotism, and your steadfast service to the Nigeria Customs Service and to our great nation,” he declared.

A total of 186 officers were elevated, spanning various ranks from the Deputy Comptroller down to the rank of Assistant Inspector of Customs.

 

These promotions Shuaibu said forms part of a broader national exercise, which saw 3,312 senior officers and 202 junior officers elevated during recent board and management meetings of the Nigeria Customs Service.
Comptroller Shuaibu commended the officers for their professionalism, courage, and integrity, reminding them that promotion comes with heightened responsibility. He urged them to wear their new ranks with humility and serve as mentors and role models.

“True leadership is not about titles or positions—it is about service, empathy, and dedication to a cause greater than oneself,” he said.

It is interesting to note that the Unit Deputy Public Relations Officer, Regina Anawanti was decorated with her Superintendent of Customs new rank.

To those who were not promoted, Shuaibu offered heartfelt encouragement, emphasizing that promotion is a journey, not a race. He reassured them that their efforts are recognized and that their time will come.

In his concluding remarks, Comptroller Shuaibu reminded all present that promotion is a checkpoint, not a destination.

He encouraged officers to strive for greater heights and continue contributing meaningfully to the Service and the nation.

“May you continue to bring honour to yourselves, to this unit, and to the Nigeria Customs Service at large,” he said.

The ceremony ended with prayers for continued success and appreciation for all attendees, leaving a renewed sense of purpose and pride among the officers of FOU Zone A.
