The Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has called for an emergency meeting of all licensed customs agents scheduled to take place tomorrow, Thursday, August 21, 2025, noting that the planned meeting is in response to mounting pressure from regulatory authorities.

The meeting, which will be held at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, is set to begin at 12 noon prompt  and is expected to address the recent hike in license and permit fees, a development that stakeholders say poses a serious threat to the survival of customs brokerage businesses across the country.

In a strongly worded reminder circulated by the office of the National Secretary of the association, ANLCA emphasized that the gathering is open to all licensed customs agents, regardless of their association affiliations.

However, attendance is strictly limited to Directors of Customs Licensed Companies, underscoring the gravity of the issue at hand.

The notice reads: “In view of the recent onslaught by the authorities, ALL Licensed Customs Agents irrespective of their association leaning are by this notice humbly invited to a crucial meeting.”

The notice which urged all licensed customs agents to be in attendance explained that all agents voices is required to be heard in adequately advancing a collection position.

The outcome of the meeting will be documented in a communique, complete with the names and signatures of attendees, and forwarded to relevant government agencies for urgent consideration, the organizer said.

Industry observers say the fee hike could have far-reaching implications for trade facilitation, port operations, and the broader logistics ecosystem in Nigeria.

ANLCA’s National Secretary, Chief Olumide F. said tomorrow’s meeting is expected to be a pivotal moment in shaping the collective response of customs agents nationwide.
