LOME Congratulates Adeniyi on Appointment
BY FUNMI ALUKO
The League of Maritime Editors (LOME) on Tuesday congratulated the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Bashir Wale Adeniyi MFR, on his appointment by the federal government.
In a congratulatory message signed by the President, Chief Timothy Okorocha and the Secretary, Mr Felix Kumuyi, the League said Adeniyi deserves the appointment considering his wealth of experience in the Service.
With over 30 years cognate experience in customs administration which includes strategic and operational responsibilities, League described Adeniyi as a round-peg in a round-hole, sufficiently prepared for the task of the new office.
The League added that being a core professional with a deep understanding of the complex nature of international trade and the nation’s peculiar customs trade, the new CG is well equipped for the assignment ahead of him.
The maritime media editors advised the new CG to strive to maintain professionalism in the Service, as well as right past wrongs where necessary to boost the morale of officers and men for the good of the Customs Service.
The message reads in part, “We also urge you to ensure that by the time you have served your tenure in Customs Service, you will be remembered as one who took professionalism to another level, improved on trade facilitation and welfare of officers and other transformations in the Service. We want you to write your name in gold in terms of performance for others to emulate. When you do this, you justify the clamour over the years by maritime industry stakeholders that only career officers should be appointed CG of Nigeria Customs”.
The League also prayed to God to give the new customs helmsman the wisdom and strength to carry out his new assignment for the benefit of the country.
