Maritime Nigeria Unveils National Discourse 2024 Edition
Capt Iheanacho, Cdr Effedua, Compt. Nnadi, Capt Enisouh, Adewumi, Onileimon, Omatseye, Makes DMP List

The management and editorial board of Maritime Nigeria, publishers of Maritime Insider and Newsgate Magazine has announced the 2024 edition of its annual National Discourse, slated to hold on October 17, 2024 at the Rockview Hotel, GRA Apapa Lagos.
Convener and Managing Director of Maritime Nigeria, Mr. Kelvin Kagabare in a release made available to Pinnacle Time unveiled the list of prominent industry players and operators that made Distinguished Maritime Personalities (DMPs), being the Award/Recognition component of the annual National Discourse.
According to Kagbare, the list which is made up of eminent maritime personalities and pillars of the nation’s economy include Capt Emmanuel Iheanacho, former Minister of Interior, Barr. Temisan Omatseye, former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and President of the Nigerian Ship Owners Association (NISA), Otunba Sola Adewumi.
The list also includes the Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Cdr. Duja Effedua (Rtd), Customs Area Controller, Tin Can Island Port, Compt. Dera Nnadi mni, Capt Warredi Enisouh, Managing Partner, Blue Marine Resources Ltd, Okey Ibeke, veteran maritime media practitioner and consultant, Sesan Onileimon, Abdulkadir Ahmed, NLNG Shipping & marine Services, amongst others.
While the Minister of the Marine and Blue Economy Ministry, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour, HE Iheanacho will serve as Chairman of the occasion with the theme “The Human Capital Component, Assets And Infrastructure For The Blue Economy”
Unarguably, a convergence of pathfinders and solution providers, the occasion promises to be a defining one especially at a time the federal government and its leaders are exploring avenues to generate quality discourse that would drive the nation’s nascent blue economy, Kagbare said.
Giving additional insight, Kagbare said this year’s National Discourse is focused on providing a reminder that aggregates the benefits and operability of the marine and blue economy.
On the DMPs, he said, “The Distinguish Maritime Personalities is a product of careful selection of men and women who have contributed and still contributing to the national efforts to build, shape and improve maritime competitiveness.”
Without any gainsaying, those listed Dr. Emeka Akabogu, Hon. Tony Iju Nwabunike and Mrs. Olamide Odusanya, Director, Financial Services at NIMASA, are frontline maritime personalities whose hard work and contributions to the industry cannot be overemphasised.
“The Controller, Tin Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, the MD/CEO of Stars Investment company Ltd, Iroghama Ogbeifun, Capt Warredi Enisuoh, former Director Shipping Service at NIMASA and Technical Director/Head of operations at Tantita Security Services Ltd, are not just worthy DMPs, but have been listed as Speakers at the event.
“Two heavyweight professional journalists, Messrs Okey Ibeke and Sesan Onileimon, respected veterans who have since reached the pinnacle of the media profession have been selected as DMPs based on personal recognitions, they are expected to share with participants personal perspectives on the theme of this year National Discourse.”
