FOU Kaduna recovers N120m receipt in Aug ‘21

Hands over seized unregistered pharmaceuticals

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Federal Operations Unit Zone B Kaduna, has announced receipt recovery of over One Hundred and Twenty Million Naira, N120million, from seized items for the month of August 2021.

In addition, the Unit has handed over 500 cartons of unregistered pharmaceutical products impounded by its operatives within the period under review to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control, NAFDAC.

The Unit Controller, Compt. Al-bashar Hamisu psc(+) warned unscrupulous members of the public involved in the questionable and illicit business to desist,  and urged against actions that could impair the wellbeing of the citizenry and or  injure the economy of the country.

A statement made available to our reporter by the Unit Public Relations Officer, ASCI M.A Magaji, said the pharmaceuticals handed over to officials of the Kaduna State NAFDAC office last week include Hiegra Sildenaful Citrate tablets, Colcaps Chlonphenirame mateate capsules 4mg, Crisunate injection 60 mg/ml, Gazamtine 100ml and Pepo-provera injection 150 mg.

In the spirit of inter-agency collaboration, Compt. FOU Zone B Kaduna Compt. Albashar Hamisu psc(+) handed over 500 cartons of unregistered pharmaceutical products containing Hiegra Sildenaful Citrate tablets, Colcaps Chlonphenirame mateate capsules 4mg, Crisunate injection 60 mg/ml, Gazamtine 100ml and Pepo-provera injection 150 mg to NAFDAC State Office Kaduna today 26 August 2021 in Kaduna.

According to the statement, the NAFDAC State Office Coordinator, Mr. Nasiru Mato while receiving the unregistered products applauded the NCS, Hamisu and his officers and men for their high sense of duty and collaboration. Mato also assured that the products will pass through regulatory screening to aid its investigation; as well its decision on how best to go about the products destruction.

Other seized items for Aug 2021

In all, the Unit made a total of 75 seizures worth over N120 million within the period under review. The seizures include 393,900 capsules of unregistered pharmaceutical, 1840 packs of foreign cigarettes, 615 bags of foreign parboiled rice in various sizes, 122 sacks of foreign broken bones and horns, 20 units of vehicles amongst other items having a combine Duty Paid Value of 121,459,002.20.

“Products handed over contain Hiegra Sildenaful Citrate tablets, Colcaps Chlonphenirame mateate capsules 4mg, Crisunate injection 60 mg/ml, Gazamtine 100ml and Pepo-provera injection 150 mg.”
