The League of Maritime Editors (LOME) has joined other well wishers in congratulating the  Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR,  on his recent election as the Chairperson of the Council of the World Customs Organisation (WCO).

In a congratulatory letter to the customs boss signed by the President and Secretary General of League, Mrs Remi Itie and Mr Felix Kumuyi, respectively, the group described the election as record breaking being the first time Nigeria is chairing the council.

The League statement signed by Francis Ugwoke, Public Relations Officer, attributed such ascension to global prominence as World Customs Organisation (WCO)   to  Adeniyi’s   ‘astute leadership’ over the past two years  as CGC.

According to the group, the Customs Service under Adeniyi has done  very well in revenue collection, surpassing budgetary targets.
