Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) policy and operational centre striker, Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, has been honoured with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Award, for his outstanding combat against drug trafficking.

The recognition is coming on the heels of his consistent anti-narcotic posture as the Customs Area Controller (CAC) Tin Can Island Command, especially against the backdrop of the command’s impressive records of seizures of contraband and questionable drugs in the past two years.
The award was presented to Comptroller Nnadi by the NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd) at the commissioning of the narcotic agency’s ultra-modern office facility located at Eko Atlantic City Victoria Lagos, Wednesday.
Others  who received the NDLEA’s award includes the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Secretary of Lagos State Government, Barrister Bola Salu-Hundeyin at the event, the UK High Commissioner in Nigeria and the Managing Director of Eko Atlantic City, Mr. Ronald Chagoury.
The newly commissioned building was donated to the NDLEA by the United Kindgom Drug Enforcement Agency.
The NDLEA boss said Nnadi has distinguished himself as unbendable anti-drug fighter and ambassador, who stands unapologetically against anti-drug importation into Nigeria through the seaport.
It will be recalled that Comptroller Nnadi has been instrumental to high profile seizure of illicit substances at the TCIP, notable among which were the interception of two containers laden with cocaine and one laden with heroine, believed to have been shipped from South Africa.
Other recent seizures made by the TCIP Customs Command include; the 1072kg of Canadian loud seized in one swoop which represents the biggest single seizure of Cannabis Indica at any seaport in Nigeria.
A product of intellectual power house, Nnadi combines in-depth experiences garnered over the years as a focused, dedicated officer, and very early in service resolved to under studying his superiors in all aspects of the Service’s operations.
By dint of intelligence and unremitting hard work he turned out the NCS poster boy, enjoying the total trust and confidence of the Service’s leadership and management.
Recall that few months ago, the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, was at Tin Can Island Port to showcase impounded  illicit substances valued at N4.1billion.
Marwa used the occasion to applaud the synergy between NCS and NDLEA, while calling for improved collaboration, especially between both agencies.
The highpoint of the event was when participants at the occasion were thrilled with the display of the diving and retrieval capacity of NDLEA marine officers.
