KLT Customs Achieve 61% Increase Q1

… Hand Over Expired Drugs To NAFDAC

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) recorded an impressive achievement in revenue generation for the first quarter ending, 2025.
While briefing the media recently on the activities of the command, the customs area controller (CAC, Comptroller E.J Edelduok said the command generated the total sum of Thirty-Eight Billion, One Hundred and Five Million, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Seven Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifteen Naira (N38,022,972,592.00) only, for the first quarter of 2025.
A statement by the Command PRO, SC VU Ogagbor said when compared with the first quarter 2024 which stood at Twenty-Three Billion, Six Hundred and Sixty-Eight Million, Fifty-Six Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty-Five Naira (N23,668,056,535.00), the current fiscal activities shows a progressive difference of Fourteen Billion, Four Hundred and Thirty Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty-one Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty Naira (N14,437,931,380.00); representing 61% increase.
Ogagbor quoted the CAC as attributing the growth to the effective revenue collection strategies put in place on arrival, in addition to the efforts of officers and men of the command in combating smuggling and illicit trade.
She disclosed that the command seized Nine (9) 40-foot containers of expired drugs which contravened the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023, which items were handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in line with the standard operating procedure (SOP) for further actions.
Comptroller Edelduok emphasized the command’s commitment to stakeholder engagement through open-door policy and fostering of positive relationship aimed at achieving trade compliance.
The amiable customs area controller thanked the stakeholders and all partnering agencies for their collaboration and implored them to continue to maintain the spirit of collaboration to move the country forward.
While also appreciating the Officers and Men of the command for demonstrating commitment and high level integrity in the fight against smuggling and illicit trade, she thanked the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and his management team for their support, motivation and the provision of the platform to excel.
