The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday, June 5, 2026, rolled out tributes and heartfelt accolades as it honoured retiring Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Musa Omale at a colourful ceremony held at the Service Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja.

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, alongside members of the Management Team, led the celebration, describing Omale’s career as a shining example of professionalism, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering dedication to service.

CGC Adeniyi noted that the tradition of celebrating retiring officers is not only about bidding farewell but also about recognising the indelible footprints they leave behind. “When we are in service, we leave imprints and footprints because we never know how people will make reference to them later,” he remarked, urging Omale to remain cautious in future ventures while wishing him good health and continued opportunities to contribute to national development.

Also speaking at the event, DCG Timi Bomodi, who first met Omale 35 years ago in Port Harcourt, praised his humility, intellect, and reliability. “You have remained yourself all through. You are reliable and dependable, and your word is your bond,” he said.

Director of Legal Services, Smart Akande, recalled their collaboration on prosecution matters in Port Harcourt, describing Omale as articulate and diligent. “I will not be surprised if he becomes a professor after retirement,” Akande added.

Assistant Comptroller-General Nafiu Isiaku highlighted Omale’s passion for learning and mentorship, noting that his approachable nature and commitment to excellence inspired younger officers across the Service.

In his response, DCG Omale expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General, colleagues, and the Service for the honour. He reflected on his calm approach to life and his enduring love for academia, recalling a defining early experience when he represented his superior at a board meeting.

Omale pledged to remain available to support the Service whenever called upon, commending CGC Adeniyi’s listening leadership style.

The ceremony was not just a farewell but a celebration of a man whose career embodied discipline, intellect, and service. As Omale steps into retirement, his legacy remains etched in the annals of the Nigeria Customs Service; a reminder that true leadership is defined by humility, knowledge, and impact.
