Katsina Customs Command Gets New Controller

Following recent reorganization carried out by the leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Muhammed Umar Abubakar has resumed as new area controller of Katsina Command.
With the recent appointments and redeployments of some management members and Comptrollers by the Ag. Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR for optimal operational efficiency of the service, the Katsina Area Command was not left out of the development as Comptroller Muhammed Umar Abubakar was deployed to the Command.
According to a statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, Tahir Balarabe, a Superintendent of Customs, Comptroller Umar is a native of Bauchi State and holds a Bachelor degree in Arts and History from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira.
He was enlisted into the Service as an Assistant Superintendent of Customs in 1989 and has attended several courses both within and outside the country, and he is also a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria.
A seasoned officer with vast experience, Abubakar has worked in various formations, units, and departments. According to the Command PRO, before his promotion to the rank of Comptroller, the Katsina new customs boss was one time Acting Comptroller Special Duties Headquarters Abuja. He also served as substantive controller of Plateau/Nassarawa/Benue, and Kano/Jigawa commands. Until his present posting, he was Comptroller Admin at the Zonal Headquarters, Zone B Kaduna.
His resumption has creates some sort of excitements as his posting to the command is said to have re-candled hope about improved revenue generation, trade facilitation, and smuggling suppression.
The CAC thanked the Ag. CGC and his management team even as he has charged officers and men of the command to eschew all acts of indiscipline and unprofessionalism; and to uphold the highest standard of professionalism and work ethics.
