Nnadi, Tin-Can Customs Boss Harps On Compliance
BY FUNMI ALUKO
The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, has advised importers and customs agents using the Command, to recommit to compliance in the clearance process, particularly in the declaration of imports.
While giving the charge during an open talk with stakeholders at the command’s sprawling ground, which he tagged ‘The Year of Stakeholders’ on Tuesday, September 30,2024, he explained that the well-being of all who do business in the area command is a priority to him and his management team.
The Command Public Relations Officer, NN Okwara pjsc in a release stated that the CAC also used the opportunity to speak to them on activities during the ember months, urging them to leverage on genuine declarations to make the best of the season in terms of trade. He explained that with genuine declarations, there will be less disputes between customs and importers and their clearing agents.
He also warned that dubious importers who are adept at circumventing the system will have no hiding place as the system will continue to identify and isolate them via the full force of the laws.
A listening administrator and a team player regarded as unbendable on matters of official demands, Nnadi encouraged the stakeholders to support his management in realizing the command’s annual revenue target, as the last quarter sets in, through increased compliance.
This is even as he enjoined them to take advantage of all newly created bonded terminals domiciled within the command’s stations outside the head office.
He advised the stakeholders to learn to keep the environment clean, pending when new bins will be distributed at designated areas, for the fact that a clean environment portrays a healthy lifestyle.
