Customs CSC, Spokesman bags IPRGA, APRA awards
Leadership of Customs Command and Staff College and the Customs National Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah has won a number of local and international awards, giving the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, an edge in public information management over and above other agencies of government.
While the Customs CSC won the Security and Emergency Management Association of Nigeria, SEMAN, Outstanding Training Feat Award, the NCS and its spokesman, Joseph Attah jointly the 2020 International Public Relations Golden World Award for Outstanding Performance in Public Sector Communication .
Attah was also awarded the African Public Relations Association, APRA, Best Public Information, Public Affairs, 2020. While NEMAN urged the Commandant of Customs CSC, Assistant Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi not to relent in making the institution the foremost in West and Central Africa, the groups that honoured the Customs and Attah commended him for his aggressive up-to-date public information on the ongoing border drill, which was the basis for his recognition.
Attah a Deputy Comptroller of Customs after receiving the award Friday in Abuja, described the recognition as an encouragement to remain selfless and committed to the ideals of effective people orientated communication to address economic, social and security challenges.
Specifically, the NCS bagged the 2020 African Public Relations Award in recognition of its Superior Achievement in Branding Reputation and Engagement, SABRE, in addition to being Winner of Public Affairs Category for its timely and effective response to the concern of stakeholders, especially Rice Processors Association of Nigeria, RIPAN, over incessant smuggling of foreign rice.
The latter two awards were hosted by The Holmes Report in collaboration with APRA, to celebrate PR campaigns through creativity and integrity driven process.
Present at the investiture were the who-is-who in the Nigeria’s Public Relations community including National President of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Mukhtar Zubairu; Vice President of the Institute, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, Deputy National PRO of Customs, Dr. Abubakar Zurmi and other notable dignitaries.
