League Organizes Appreciation Dinner In Honour of Sambo, Adegoroye
…Lauds Outgoing Transport Ministers Commitment, Focus And Leadership
The League of Maritime Editors (LOME) has concluded arrangements to honour the Transportation Minister, Alhaji Muazu Sambo and his Minister of State counterpart, Mr. Ademola Adegoroye.
LOME in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Francis Ugwoke said the honour for the outgoing minister and his brother minister of state is in appreciation of their uncommon dedication to impact the industry through hard work, and which manifested visible achievements despite their short stint in office.
As part of the honour, the League is organizing an Appreciation Dinner slated for June 9 at Eko Hotel and Suites, in Victoria Island, Lagos. The Appreciation Dinner which is strictly by invitation will be chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha.
Chief Timothy Okorocha, President of the League according to the statement said Sambo and Adegoroye have demonstrated exceptional stewardship capacity that would go a long way in defining the clear deliverables of any government’s economic agenda, and lamented their short stay.
According to the statement, “Sambo focused on projects that will move the nation’s maritime industry forward”, among which the statement continues: “were ports infrastructure rehabilitation, indigenous shipping development under which he got the President to approve the disbursement of the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF), the process which has since started.
“Sambo had on assuming office also promoted human capacity development both in the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and Maritime Academy Oron (MAN).
“On assuming office, he moved to ensure ports efficiency and interconnectivity of agencies through the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) by establishing port community system under a single platform. He will be remembered for achieving so much for the industry after spending less than 10 months in office.”
Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion includes the Governors of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu , and his Taraba and Ondo Sate counterparts, Darius Dickson Ishaku and Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu CON (SAN), respectively.
Also expected is the Emir of Muri in Taraba State, Alhaji Abbas Njidda Tafida and the Deji of Akure in Ondo State, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, and captains of the maritime and transport industry.
