‘Everyone Must Play His Role’

ICT inclined anti-smuggling chief, Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu the new Controller, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’ Kaduna has charged officers and men of the command, including players in the various sister agencies to close rank and work for the collective interest of the nation, noting that everyone must be seeing to be playing his role in a focused and passionate manner.
Speaking during the handing and taking over ceremony at Kangiwa House, Kaduna yesterday, Shuaibu also thanked the leadership of the NCS and the management for finding him worthy to lead the FOU Zone B at this material time.
A statement by the Unit Public Relations Officer, SC Isah Sulaiman said Shuaibu also eulogized his predecessor, comptroller Dalha Wada Chedi for satisfactorily piloting the affairs of the unit up until handing over to him.
Sulaiman said, Comptroller Dalha Wada Chedi handed over the mantle of leadership of the Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’ Kaduna to Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu yesterday 17 April 2024 at the Unit’s Headquarters in Kaduna in a colourful transition ceremony.
“The new Comptroller gave all glory to the Almighty Allah for the privilege of being assigned to the Unit and conveyed his gratitude to the CGC and his management team for their support.
Speaking after receiving the baton of control, Comptroller Shuaibu was quoted as saying: “We are public servants, everybody plays his or her own role in project Nigeria. We are here to contribute our quota of ensuring that the mandate of NCS in revenue generation, anti-smuggling, trade facilitation and above all National Security is achieved.
“We cannot do it alone without the cooperation of all the security agencies as well as the Press. We must work together because we do not have any country other than Nigeria”, he added.
According to the statement, Comptroller Shuaibu eulogized his predecessor for the achievements he recorded during his tenure, just as solicited the cooperation and synergy of all the security agencies as well as the Fourth Realm of Estate.
The new Unit Controller charged Officers/Men of the Unit to be disciplined, focused and professionals in the discharge of their duty.
Speaking earlier during the handing over ceremony, Comptroller Chedi thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale MFR for the opportunity given to him to serve as the Comptroller of the Unit and for posting him as Comptroller Enforcement at the headquarters.
While also commending the unwavering support and dedication of the Officers and Men of the Unit, he urged them to extend to Comptroller Shuaibu the same support he enjoyed.
He said, “I must commend you for your sacrifices, doggedness and tenacity throughout my stay as the Comptroller FOU ‘B’ Kaduna. Your hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence have been the driving force behind our collective achievement.”
“l urged all of you, Officers and Men of this Unit to embrace our new Comptroller and extend the same unwavering support you gave me to continue to take the Unit to greater heights.”
The ceremony according to the statement garnered support from various stakeholders with attendance by the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kaduna State, the Commandant of the Nigeria Police College, Kaduna, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, the State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, The Zonal Manager, News Agency of Nigeria among others.
The Zonal Manager NAN while commenting said, ”As the baton passes from one capable leader to another, the FOU Zone “B” stands poised to maintain its unwavering commitment to safeguarding national interests and fostering collaboration for a brighter future.”
