Comptrollers Shuaibu, Jimoh, Others Decorated With New Ranks

Customs hard boiled anti-smuggling czar and respected officer, Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu was yesterday decorated with his new comptroller rank at the Customs Training College Ikeja, serving temporarily as the Zone A Headquarters.

A core professional officer, Shuaibu was decorated alongside others by the Zonal Coordinator, ACG Mohammed Bello Jibo in the presence of his wife, Mrs. Shuaibu, who helped with the decoration exercise.

The elated Comptroller Shuaibu while thanking the CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR and his management team on the side line for the promotion, said it calls for more commitment and sacrifice. Currently the Customs Area Controller of Ogun 1 Command, Shuaibu is on record for contributing significantly to the successes of the NCS anti-smuggling operations.

His anti-smuggling records in the past ten years, spanning the Federal Operations Zone C and Zone A where he served in subordinate but pivotal roles, up until he assumed the leadership of the defunct Strike Force Zone A, are replete with outstanding successes and professional  utmost procedural touch and operational finesses.

Since assuming the headship of Ogun Command, barely seven months ago, Shuaibu has overhauled the anti-smuggling landscape of the area, blending enforcement with intelligence; and pushing for unprecedented community relations support.

Within the short period, the command has scaled up seizures of prohibited items including illicit substances, contraband rice, vehicles, ammunition and others without casualties, both on the part of his officers and members of the public.

A fine gentleman officer with unbending integrity characteristics and polished professional appeals, it is believed that Shuaibu also holds his place firmly in customs administration, revenue management, classification and tariff reading, spiced up in his keen appetite for ICT interplay.

Other comptrollers decorated at the event include Comptroller Bolajoko Jimoh, who thanked the CGC and especially his predecessor, Col.  Hameed Ali (Rtd), whom he said sanitized the customs promotion exercise during his stay.

While congratulating the lucky officers after their decoration, ACG Jibo charged them to increase their loyalty and dedication to service; and urged them to see the promotion as a conferment of trust which should motivate them to work harder.

Those decorated by the Zonal Coordinator include the Assistant Comptroller, Deputy Comptrollers and the Customs Comptroller cadre within the zone.
