The leadership of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has disclaimed any association or relationship, whether partial, temporary or official with the controversial National Compliance Joint Task Force of Licensed Clearing Agents, describing the organization as product of mischief, and therefore, meddlesome, presumptuous and overreaching itself.

A statement sighted by our reporter, signed by ANLCA National Secretary, Mr. Olumide Fakunle on behalf of the National President, Mr. Emenike Nwokeoji, says ANLCA leadership  finds the purported task of the new body at variance with public decorum, peace and order  and hence the need to let the freight and port industry as a whole become aware of the fact that despite the dubious contraption and the term ‘licensed clearing agents’ attached to it,  the Task Force in question has no bearing whatsoever with ANLCA, its philosophy and or activities.

With the theme ‘DISCLAIMER! DISCLAIMER!! DISCLAIMER!!!’, the statement reads:

“It has come to the attention of the leadership of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) the sudden emergence and operations of some individuals purporting to be National Compliance Joint Task Force of Licensed Clearing Agents.

“ANLCA as the premium Association of Licensed Clearing Agents/Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders, we make bold to highlight the misnomer in a situation where supposed clearing agents now claim to be the ones doing the jobs of statutory agencies of government.

“The Nigeria Customs Service and the retinue of government agencies in the ports are more than enough to enforce compliance unless there are things we are not being told.

“We therefore call on our members to completely ignore the antics of these idlers who rather than go and look for Bills of Lading chose to meddle into the cargo clearing process under the guise of ensuring compliance. Our members are further enjoined to report any attempt of such meddlesomeness to ANLCA relevant committees or to the National Secretariat.

Please be vigilantly guided”, the statement added.
