Onyemekara Promoted GM, Appointed NPA’s New Spokesperson
…As Wanka Gets Promoted Heads Regulatory Services, MD’s Office

A top aide in the office of the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ikechukwu Onyemekara has been promoted General Manager (GM) and redeployed to head the organisation’s Corporate & Strategic Communications Division.
Onyemekara, until his new appointment, was the Technical Assistant on Protocols, a position he has held under three consecutive managing directors, beginning with Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman, Mohammed Bello-Koko and the incumbent, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho; until his redeployment in a memo dated October 4, 2024.
In the same vein, Wanka Ahmad Yakubu, former AGM Public Private Partnership, promoted GM was reassigned to the office of the Managing Director as head of Regulatory Services.
Out of the total of twenty seven (27) personnel affected in the new changes, Ballah Sarah, hitherto holding forth as the Acting AGM Corporate & Strategic Communications, was deployed to the office of the Executive Director, Finance & Admin as GM Superannuation.
The memo signed by Dantsoho described the changes affecting the middle level cadre as a strategic move to shore up the authority’s performance. Appointed CEO barely four months ago, Dantsoho come to the job with decades of sector-specific experience, and has given strong indications of leaving the port industry better than he met it.
He was quoted as saying that the “appointments represent our deliberate strategy to deploy the wealth of experience of the appointees to national advantage.”
Others affected by the reorganization includes Dr (Mrs) Chinwe Nwokolo Rose, Lukman Charles Bamidele, Hadiza Sani, Capt. Angyuwe Jerome, Babatunde Gbotolorun, and Edosowan A.A.
