Former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Barrister Temisan Omatseye, is set to chair the 2026 Annual Lecture and Awards of Primetime Reporters, a leading maritime-focused online newspaper.

Omatseye, who served as Director-General of NIMASA from 2006 to 2010, is expected to bring his wealth of experience and deep knowledge of Nigeria’s maritime industry to the high-profile event scheduled to hold on October 15, 2026, at Rockview Hotels, Apapa, Lagos.

The annual lecture and awards, which is the fifth edition, is expected to attract key stakeholders across the maritime, ports, shipping, freight forwarding, logistics and wider blue economy sectors.

The 2026 edition is themed: “Smarter Gateways, Greener Logistics: Leveraging the Port Community System and National Single Window for Zero-Emission Trade.”

The theme reflects the growing need for Nigeria to accelerate digital transformation, improve efficiency at the nation’s ports and adopt greener practices capable of reducing emissions across the maritime and logistics value chain.

The lecture is expected to provide a platform for industry experts, government officials, regulators, operators and other stakeholders to examine practical ways of leveraging digital technologies and coordinated port systems to facilitate trade and support Nigeria’s transition towards a more sustainable maritime economy.

The event will also feature the presentation of awards to individuals, organisations and institutions that have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to the development of Nigeria’s maritime industry.

According to Mr. Saint Augustine Nwadinamuo, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Primetime Reporters, the awards are based on merit and are designed to recognise exceptional leadership, professionalism, innovation, advocacy, research, trade facilitation and other contributions to the growth of the maritime sector.

The choice of Omatseye as chairman of the event, he said, underscores the importance attached to his experience and contributions to the Nigerian maritime industry.

During his tenure at NIMASA, Omatseye was involved in efforts aimed at strengthening maritime administration, safety, security and the development of Nigeria’s maritime resources.

His participation is expected to add significant weight to the 2026 edition of the Primetime Reporters’ Annual Lecture and Awards and provide an opportunity for industry stakeholders to draw from his extensive experience in maritime administration and policy.

Nwadinamuo said the event would also serve as a platform for stakeholders to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in the sector, particularly in the areas of digitalisation, port efficiency, environmental sustainability and the development of Nigeria’s blue economy.

The 2026 Annual Lecture and Awards is expected to bring together senior government officials, heads of maritime regulatory agencies, shipping companies, terminal operators, freight forwarders, logistics providers, maritime lawyers, academics, journalists and other industry professionals.

Nwadinamuo who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Chisann Communications, Publishers of Primetime Reporters said the medium remains committed to using its annual lecture and awards to promote informed discourse, recognise excellence and encourage stakeholders whose activities contribute to the sustainable development of Nigeria’s maritime industry.

He therefore called on government agencies, professional associations, corporate organisations, maritime stakeholders and individuals to partner with Primetime Reporters towards ensuring the success of the 2026 Annual Lecture and Awards.

He said partnership opportunities include advertisement placements in the event brochure and other event materials, sponsorship of the entire programme or specific segments, as well as other opportunities associated with the event.

Interested organisations and individuals, he said, can contact the management of Primetime Reporters on 07030661526 or via email at augustinenwadinamuo@yahoo.com.
