MAN Honours PMB, Gov. Udom, Saraki, Kure, Ikpeazu, Ebong, Usoro, Others

The Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Thursday named some buildings and roads in the Academy after President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Femi Osinbajo, other distinguished Nigerians, including prominent industry players.

Above honoraries were unveiled during the commissioning of hallmark projects embarked upon by the Rector of MAN, Commodore Duja Effedua and his management team, in the past three and half years.
The Minister of State for Transportation, Senator Gbemi Saraki who was also honoured, and who commissioned the projects, thanked Effedua for the honour on behalf of all the recipients’, describing the projects as significant and capacity orientated. Others honoured include Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom, Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, former Chairman Board, Amb.
Demola Seriki, Hon. Lynda Chuba-Ikpeazu, Mfom Usoro, Margaret Orakwusi, Jean Chiazor Anishere, and former Rectors of MAN, Pastor Nseyen Ebong and Joshua Enun Okpo.Also on the list is Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho , Sen. Danjuma Goje, Sen. Zainab A. Kure, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Hon Umar Bago, Hon. (Capt) Ajao J. Adejumo, Dr. Magdalene N Ajani, Alhaji Sabiu Zakari, Folorunsho Alakija.Others include Ify Akerele, Nneka Obiamyor, Alhaji Danjuma Dauda, Capt. Alao Tajudeen, Capt. A. F. Assad, Engr. Olu I. Akinsoji, Cdre Ibrahim Hussien, Capt. Ime Ned Ntiaidem, Capt. David A. Onoja, Engr. Okon Edward Bassey, Engr. Anthony Anayo Ishiodu, Capt. Ahia Okechukwu Elijah, Angela P. Udofe Ezihe Emmanuel Chinagorom, and Otunba kunle Folarin.While the Academy Berth facility was named after President Buhari, its Sporting facilities was named after Senator Saraki, Female Hostel was named after Usoro, and the Restaurant named after Hon. Chuba-Ikpeazu.
In particular, some projects and structures were also named after Chief Adebayo Sarumi, Capt. Adamu Biu, and Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, including late Capt. Biu who were members of the defunct MAN Interim Management Committee, whose contributions according to Effedua helped set the Academy on the path to evolving into world-class maritime training institution.
