The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has intensified its campaign against stowaways by taking public awareness to grassroots communities. At Snake Island, Lagos, the Agency engaged community leaders, youths, and residents on the dangers and consequences of stowaways on vessels.
According to a statement signed and made available to our reporter by Osagie Edward, FNIPR, NIMASA Deputy Director/Head, Public Relations, residents commended NIMASA for the enlightenment campaign, describing it as timely and impactful.
Leading the Agency’s team, Head of ISPS, Mr. Mudi Isa, emphasized that stowaway incidents damage Nigeria’s reputation in the global maritime community and reaffirmed NIMASA’s commitment to preventive awareness through community engagement.
