In its continuous effort to deepen strategic engagements and in a major boost to Nigeria’s maritime security surveillance and defense, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) has officially delivered 15 newly procured gun boats to the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Tantita Security Services, headquartered in Effurun, Delta State, is a private security firm specializing in safeguarding Nigeria’s vital oil and gas infrastructure through pipeline protection, paramilitary escort, and advanced surveillance operations.
The commissioning ceremony was held at the Nigerian Navy Boatyard in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, with military officials, representatives of Tantita Security Services led by Brig. Gen Efe Edafiogo Rtd, and dignitaries from Rivers State in attendance.
Of the 15 vessels, seven were handed over to the Nigerian Army, while eight were allocated to the Nigerian Navy. These gun boats are expected to enhance joint operations against oil theft, piracy, and other maritime crimes across the Niger Delta and coastal waters.
Officials emphasized that the deployment of the vessels will strengthen surveillance, rapid response, and deterrence against criminal activities threatening Nigeria’s economic assets. The commissioning also underscored the importance of public-private collaboration in securing the nation’s waterways.
Nigeria’s maritime domain has long been vulnerable to illegal bunkering, smuggling, and piracy. By equipping both the Army and Navy with modern gun boats, Tantita Security Services aims to reinforce operational readiness and ensure safer navigation for commercial and civilian vessels.
A leading local player already establishing strong presence in the global space, Tantita’s operations is unique for its technology innovations and drone-assisted surveillance. These it has achieved through deployment of unmanned aerial systems for real-time monitoring of offshore oil platforms, pipelines, and maritime corridors.
Essentially, its maritime patrol systems comprise of integration of boats, aircraft, and satellite-linked sensors to detect illegal bunkering, piracy, and crude oil theft; with the use of artificial intelligence to analyze surveillance data, identify suspicious activity, and trigger rapid response alerts.
Interestingly, Tantita has also integrated into safer operational spaces under the carbon credit initiatives, leveraging environmental conservation projects to generate carbon credits, and aligning oil security with sustainability.
Its global expansion prospects have gained a foothold through international partnerships. Interest from Europe, Asia, and other African nations in adopting Tantita’s surveillance and security frameworks, has been in the making.
This is already positioning Nigeria for technology export, with potentials to license drone-assisted maritime security solutions to global energy companies and governments.
While Tantita’s strategic participation at global platforms has been on the rise, it would be recalled that it was the official sponsor of the 2025 Offshore Technology Conference; showcasing Nigeria’s fight against crude oil theft and sustainability efforts.
In the OTC 2026, Tantita is also listed to deliver a technical lecture on drone-assisted offshore security, positioning Nigeria as a global innovator. Tantita’s exhibition presence at the OTC 2026 alongside global tech leaders, highlights Africa’s rising role in energy security innovation.
