Appointments: MWUN Congratulates Oyetola, Alkali, Lalong, Wike

The Executive Management of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has congratulated the newly appointed ministers of transportation, marine and blue economy and labour and employment, even as the union thanked President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for finding them worthy of their respective high offices.
A statement by MWUN President General , Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, fnli, HFCPSP, notes that while the entirety of maritime workers is upbeat about their positive contributions to the industry, the union and look forward to working amicable with the new ministers to promote productivity, economic growth and industry harmony.
The statement signed on behalf of the PG by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN expressed confidence in the newly appointed ministers noting that given their respective rich background and cognate experiences in their previous political positions, they have the required administrative competences to impact on their current assignments.
The statement reads: “The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the leadership of the leadership of Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, fnli, HFCPSP, congratulates the newly appointed Ministers by the President of Nigeria and Commander-In-Chief the Armed Forces, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR.
“The appointment of Alhaji Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola (CON) as the pioneer Hon. Minister of the newly created Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy did not come as surprise, considering his unparalleled performance as the immediate past Executive Governor of Osun State. His unwavering passion for development of the State, hard work and transparency remain indelible in the hearts of the people.
“The Union believed that the former Governor will bring to bear on the Ministry his wealth of experience towards making the Marine & Blue Economy Ministry first amongst equals; and for the purpose with which it is created, to add core values to the generation of the nation’s economy.”
On Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali, Honourable Minister of Transportation, MWUN said: “Senator Saidu’s appointment as Minister, was no fluke, it came through merit. It would be recalled that the Senator was former Commissioner of Information, Gombe State. Without a doubt, while serving in his capacity with the Gombe State government, Senator Alkali ushered in a new era of information dissemination to the people of Gombe State. Indeed, his political sojourn in this regard, marked his success and achievements while he held sway. However, assessing his exploits in information management in the State was additional high point in his administrative proficiency that endeared him to all and sundry. Indeed, he is poised to deliver as designated.”
Also eulogizing Dr. Simon Lalong (CON). Hon. Minister for Labour & Employment, the union in its statement said: “ Dr. Simon has enviable record of immense achievements as former Executive Governor of Plateau State. His appointment therefore was hinged on his antecedents, given his reservoir of experience with which he governed the Plateau. Dr Lalong will definitely change the face of Employment & Labour Ministry for the betterment of the citizens, putting into cognizance the level of unemployment in the country.”
The union also has kind words for Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike (CON), the Hon. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“The former Governor of Rivers State is one personality whose numerous achievements in the state can’t be over-emphasised. He’s a builder of projects, his doggedness for development stands him out amongst equals. His taste of aesthetic is unique, little wonder he has turned out Port Harcourt into a colourful city to behold.
“Barr Wike is dubbed “Mr Project” for his pragmatic development style, which is dynamic for all and sundry to see and feel. Wike is already in the eyes of Nigerians, where he’s expected to transform and restore sanity to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.”
The statement continues: “The Union leadership pledges its support for all the aforementioned Ministers in all ramifications towards achieving the desired goal for the Maritime and Transport Sectors respectively; the Labour & Employment as well towards eradicating the problems of unemployment at least to the barest minimal; while our unflinching commitment and support also goes to the Minister of the FCT in his resolve for the greater development of Abuja and its environ. Once again, congratulations.”
