ANLCA Board Move Against Expired NECOM

After what looks like eternity, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has finally put an end to the leadership tussle rocking the association, as the board announced the dissolution of the National Executive Committee (NECOM) of the association hitherto led by Dr. Kayode farinto, effectively ending the reign of impunity that has lasted more than a year.
In a statement signed by the Chairman BoT, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha and made available to our reporter, the Board announced that the dissolution is to pave way for the strengthening of the ongoing peace process, in addition to securing the needed peaceful atmosphere to conclude the ongoing NECOM elections.
Mustapha who said the dissolution of the NECOM is with immediate effect, also announced that the Board has taken over the running of the affairs of the association inclusive of the National Secretariat and all the association’s organs of administration; for the next three months.
Accordingly, Mustapha said that the board has appointed Mr. Abdulazeez Mukaila, the immediate past National Secretary of ANLCA as Director General/Sole Administrator,to be assisted by Dr Ifeayin Asogwa.
The statement reads: “In view of the current developments in our great Association, the Board of Trustees needs to urgently take the following steps, to stem the tide of chaos threatening to further derail the fragile peace in the Association.
The following changes are hereby announced:
“(1) The National Executive Committee (NECOM) is hereby DISSOLVED, and The BoT will be taking over the running of the Association for next three months pursant to section 13, Sub 4 (c) of the supreme Consitution of ANLCA.
“(2) The Board of Trustees will immediately call a meeting of all ASECO members to structure out the necessary adjustments that may be made to quickly conduct the NECOM election. And the general members of Association shall be briefed on the new time table.
“(3) in addition to this, as constitutional custodians of ANLCA properties, assets and liabilities as enshrined in Section 13, Sub 4 (a), the National Secretariat will remain OPEN and accessible to all law abiding members. And on this note, the BOT announces the appointment of immediate past National Secretary (Mr Mukaila Babatunde Abdazeez) as Director General/Sole Administrator to act as representative of the BOT to run the secretariat on its behalf. He is to be assisted by Dr Ifeayin Asogwa.
“(4) Finally, The BOT appreciates Dr Kayode Farinto for holding the association in acting capacity in place of former president Tony Iju; and therefore solicits the understanding and cooperation of all members of ANLCA, in order to once and for all bring our association back from the brink.
